Berns earned her Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1984.
Karen is a partner in a clergy couple, having been married to the Rev. Dr. Don Berns for 36 years. Don served as Parish Associate, volunteering in Men’s Ministries and worship leadership, though disabled with Parkinson ’s disease since 1989. They are the parents of Jason and Joy. Our
retreat theme is
The
Divine Secrets of Hope
Now
faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
Friday Night: “Why Hope?”
Why is hope important, even crucial, for life? When do we especially need hope? This evening, I plan to tell some of my story and God’s story, to connect with the women’s life and faith stories.
Saturday Morning: “Hope in …HOPE?”
What is hope? On what or on whom is our hope founded and secure? Focusing our hope on Jesus Christ’s life and character, death and resurrection intersects and impacts us profoundly, while grounding and recreating our lives powerfully. Look Up!
Saturday Evening: “Hope has its Reasons & Seasons”
How does hope grow and thrive? How do we nurture hope in ourselves and in others? Celebrate the primacy and priority of hope throughout your lifetime. Grow as Sisters in Christ as you grow hopeful habits. Look Ahead!
Sunday Morning: “Hope for the Future”
What is our future hope? Are you prepared for the future to which God is calling you? What about today and tomorrow? Resurrection! A lifestyle? Hope of Heaven! Look Beyond!
