WELCOME TO ST. PETER'S BY THE SEA
We are glad that you have come to worship with us today! Please sign a WELCOME card found in the pew rack, and give it to an usher or drop it in the offering plate. A nursery is available for toddlers and young children. Children’s Church School for grades Pre-K to 5th grade meets during the worship service. Large-print bulletins and children’s bulletins are available from an usher. You will find hand sanitizer in the pew rack for your use during the service.
ALTAR CARE is given for the praise and glory of God. Today we thank Carolyn Irby for the flowers at the altar given in memory of her husband, Dick Irby. We also thank Elizabeth Sjokvist for sponsoring the coffee fellowship after the service, in honor of Bob Keck’s birthday.
WELCOME, SONJA: Today we welcome Sonja D’Anneo as our guest musician. Sonja will be with us today and August 27th while Doris is on vacation.
GOODBYE, ANA: Today we say goodbye to our Nursery care provider, Ana Arellano, who has been caring for our littlest ones for almost four years. We’ll miss you.
INTERFAITH SHELTER NETWORK MEETING: 12:30 p.m. today, August 13th, 2017 at St. Peter’s by the Sea. All who are volunteering, coordinating, or would like more information about the Interfaith Shelter Network are invited to attend.
MOVIE: “Martin Luther: the Idea that Changed the World” tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Reading Cinemas Town Square 14. Note: this movie is sold out, only those with a pre-purchased ticket can be admitted.
NEWSLETTER DEADLINE: All articles, announcements, calendar items, etc. for the September issue of the Fisherman’s Net are due to the office by August 15th. Photos are especially appreciated; thank you!
BETHLEHEM HANDCRAFTS: Next Sunday, August 20th, we will have a representative from Bethlehem Handcrafts at St. Peter’s offering handcrafted olivewood items for sale. Proceeds benefit Christian Palestinians in the Holy Land. These beautiful carvings can remind us of people of faith and the biblical stories that bear witness of God’s grace and compassion for all. Do your Christmas shopping in July! (or August, as the case may be)
CHRIST IN OUR HOME: Daily Devotion booklets are available in the Narthex or from the church office. There are large print editions available.
SCHOOL KITS: We’re collecting items to make 40 School Kits to send to Lutheran World Relief (LWR). To complete the kits, we need: 2½ inch erasers, ballpoint pens (no gel ink), 16 or 24 count boxes of crayons, and 70-sheet notebooks. Place your donation in the “School Kits” box on the credenza in the Fellowship Hall. Thank you!
CHOIRS: Walk-in choir has begun! This means you can be part of St. Peter’s Choir on a week-by-week basis. Simply walk-in to the choir room at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings for a rehearsal and then sing with the choir that day. All Are Welcome. The Children’s Choir will be taking a break until September when they will start up again in full voice! It is a joy and delight to hear those young voices each week.
SAVE THE DATE: "God's work. Our hands." Service Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America - one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. The date for the 2017 dedicated day of service is Sunday, Sept. 10. Mark your calendars today!
